If a vehicle gets, say, 20 mpg on gasoline, you can't save more than 0.05 gallons / mile of gas. For example, going 100 miles would require 5 gallons of gas. If, instead, you use an ox to pull the car, using no fossil fuel at all, you use 0 gallons, saving all 5. Total saved: 0.05 gallons/mile.Foster Boondogglenoreply@blogger.com
